Responsibly Green

With great pride Imperial Printing announces it has passed the stringent audit process to become an approved and officially certified FSC and SFI printer

Imperial has always and will continue to do everything possible to be environmentally responsible. We recycle all our scrap paper, plates, pallets, ink cans and ink. We use aqueous based products to process our plates and are in the process of experimenting with plates that require no processing chemicals. We have completely eliminated the use of alcohol in all of our processes as suggested by the EPA. We use inks that are formulated with soybean and other renewable resources versus petroleum oils that are not. We have hired independent consultants to insure the lowest possible levels of VOC emissions and D/b noise levels.

We realize that our world’s environment is a global concern. In support of that view, Imperial offers a variety of papers that are environmentally friendly. Among these are partially recycled (papers made from both virgin wood fiber and pre or post consumer waste,) 100% recycled (papers made from pre and post consumer waste,) as well as papers made from sources that have been independently certified for sustainability and well managed forestry practices. In addition, all Crane papers we sell are 100% cotton. (Since there are no trees involved in making them, they are a perfect choice for helping the environment while at the same time are among the finest papers made). We also offer papers with 25% cotton content (which also use less wood-fiber and therefore saves trees resulting in a healthier environment.)

To further commit to being responsibly green, we are proud to announce that we have completed a vigorous chain of custody paper audit by the independent and world recognized company, Bureau Veritas Certification North America, Inc.

Based on passing this audit

We are now officially certified FSC and SFI printers.

What does FSC, SFI mean?
Chain of custody systems insure that the paper we use is from well-managed and regulated forests. A chain of custody system begins with certified, healthy forests that support biodiversity. The possession or "custody" of the wood harvested from these forests is then documented through the production process to its end use. Imperial Printing supports and is committed to the chain of custody concept and we have earned our chain of custody certification from these nationally and internationally recognized organizations.

FSC
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international, independent, not-for-profit organization that promotes responsible management of the world's forests. The organization accredits third-party certifiers to ensure that forest and forest products companies meet FSC principles and criteria for environmental, economic and social standards. FSC is "The Independent Assurance for Responsible Forest Management." © 1996 Forest Stewardship Council A.C.

SFI
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative(R) (SFI) program is a comprehensive system of principles, objectives and performance measures developed by professional foresters, conservationists and scientists that combines the perpetual growing and harvesting of trees with the long-term protection of wildfire, plants, soil and water quality.
